Orion recently announced they joined the Pledge 1% movement, where businesses donate 1% of their profits, time, and/or products to the non-profits of their choice. Although their participation in the Pledge 1% is new, Orion’s philanthropy is not.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on September 12, 2019 marks the fourth time a team from Orion Global Solutions has participated. Giving back to the community is ingrained in Orion’s culture, and this year our team was the largest so far!

“We had at least 20 people, employees and members of the extended Orion family, running or walking at this year’s race through Central Park,” said Yacov Wrocherinsky, Orion CEO. “I have been participating for 12 years, some of them with only my wife and kids, so it was a heartwarming turnout for me, especially as I lost my sister to breast cancer earlier this year.”

The Susan G Komen organization is on a mission: No one should die from breast cancer. In Komen NYC's 29 years, they've had over 400,000 people race towards one shared goal. New Yorkers have raised over $80 million to fund local programs to help thousands of women and their families, and fund national research to find the cures

“It was important to me to be able to contribute to the cause and energy of the Susan G Komen race. I was happy to take this opportunity to reflect on the people in my life, and in the lives of those I love, who have struggled with cancer,” explained Marissa Kaplan, Sr. Account Executive and Relationship Director. “Walking alongside survivors and thrivers was moving and humbling. I look forward to participating again next year!”

Ellen Williams, Director, Advisory Services noted, “Breast cancer has hit my family, as it has millions of others, the decision to be part of the fight against it was an easy one! Being able to participate in the Race for the Cure with my co-workers was an amazing experience. It enabled us all to get a little closer on a personal level while also doing good for the community.”

Orion’s Engagement Manager, Jen DeLalio, ran the race and finished in less than 27 minutes! “I truly look forward to this race each year. Running in Central Park is always a thrill, and it’s a great way to contribute to an important cause while team-building with colleagues outside of our everyday work environment.”

The newest member of the team, Edit Hornyak, Finance and Operations Manager, was humbled by the event. “I loved being a part of this year’s Race for the Cause event in Central Park alongside my coworkers and friends. To come out and show my support for breast cancer patients, survivors, their family and friends & celebrate together as a community was a very special. I feel honored that this small contribution on my part does matter and can make a difference.”

And it was not just Orion employees who ran/walked. Our Director Engagements, Hima Anne’s whole family participated including her husband and two children. “For me it was supporting a great cause, alongside the Orion family and giving back to the community. And secondly, introducing the joy of running to my 8-year-old and my husband!”

“I am so proud of the Orion team,” said Yacov. “We understand the value of working hard, playing hard, and giving back to the community!”

Even though the race through Central Park is over, the race to find a cure continues. Donations for the Orion team are still being accepted https://race.komennyc.org/team/orion-global-solutions.
